Doors of Newport

June 29
Newport, RI
$135/person

Dating back to the 1700s, the doors of Newport embody centuries of rich history in Newport, RI

We will stroll along the residential streets of Newport being transported back in time to the 1700s. Back then, to announce yourself at someone’s home you used the brass knocker. These doors and knockers still exist today, and we will photograph them. The homes we will see were “cottages” of the influential and wealthy merchants who manufactured and traded sperm oil, candles, rum, barrels, textiles and more from the 150 wharfs that existed in the mid 18th century. Included in this workshop will be a 1 hour Zoom meeting where you will be shown how to make an 8x10 poster of the doors and knockers you photographed aided by a free Adobe Lightroom template.
