The Great American Eclipse: 2024

April 8, 2024
Burlington, VT
$295/person

Join us as we capture the total solar eclipse. Immerse yourself in a comprehensive learning experience, where you'll become a master of this once-in-a-lifetime event.

Our workshop offers hands-on practice, expert guidance, and a chance to witness this celestial spectacle in a supportive setting. This is the perfect opportunity to bring your photo skills to new heights (or in this case, sun!)

Northern Vermont will be in the path of totality − a narrow slice of geography with an optimal view of the moon perfectly in line with the Sun.

This workshop will be held in three parts:

  • A pre-workshop planning session (via zoom) where we will go over the stages of the eclipse and how to capture them. We will give you some practice exercises to familiarize yourself with this kind of shooting.

  • The day of the eclipse; we use your new knowledge and go out and shoot all stages of the eclipse. Starting at 2:14 p.m., the moon will begin to appear to move in front of the sun. Totality will be between 3:26 and 3:29. By 4:37 p.m. the moon will have moved past the sun returning the light to normal. The in the field workshop will wrap up shortly after this.

  • A post-workshop session (via zoom) for you to learn how to make a composite image that captures each stage of the eclipse in one photo!

We will send participants recommended solar filters and glasses information on sign up.
**As this is a weather dependent event we may need to move locations at the last minute. Every effort will be made to find a clear location for our shoot. If there is no chance to see the eclipse in any of our chosen locations, or locations within a reasonable drive, the workshop will be refunded.
