I’ve been taking photography more seriously the last two years and that is single-handedly thanks to Paul, Allie & BlueHour. I am planning to attend multiple workshops and hopefully a tour again this year. BlueHour scouts all of the locations and aims to get you there during the best conditions.

The Tour

May 31 -June 2, 2019

The Finger Lakes Region of New York State is known for its gorgeous gorges, wonderful waterfalls, and fine wines, and this diverse photo-and-vineyard tour gives you a taste of all three!

The unique shale-based geology of the area produces cascades, plunge pools, and staircase formations that are unlike anything else found in the east, and are a landscape photographer’s dream. Meanwhile, the climate of the region has been compared to the wine-growing regions of Germany, which is why the Finger Lakes produce some of the best Riesling in the country. Join us and experience the best of both worlds in this one-of-a-kind offering.

Physical Difficulty

Watkins Glen involves a mix of walking on level stone paths and climbing stairs for two miles, which may be slippery due to the moisture around the falls. The other falls involve walking on dirt paths of varying steepness for less than a mile.

Sunrise/Sunset

Because this is a photo tour, the priority of this trip will be focused on making the best photographs you can possibly make. This means we’ve structured the itinerary to coincide with the best lighting, i.e., sunrise or sunset shooting. For this tour and time of year, both sunrise and sunset is around 5:30 AM and 8:30 PM respectively. We likely will be eating dinners later than you are used to.
